F.A.U. and Snow Partner to Support Local Scholars

Recently FAU President, Dr. Mary Jane Saunders, and Tim Snow, the Fund’s president, formed an affiliation which will enhance the level of financial support their respective organizations provide to academically talented students attending FAU.

This affiliation will effectively double the amount of scholarship moneys the Scholarship Fund awards to qualifying students with the goal of substantially or fully funding a student’s four year education at FAU.

The grassroots Snow Scholarship Fund has been raising scholarship dollars for deserving youngsters since 1982 to help provide them with the college education they have proved they deserve through their grades, financial need, high level of motivation and leadership. The Fund also looks at the applicants’ established educational and career goals and their probability of obtaining those goals.

This unique alliance was formed not only to help area youngsters, but also with the hope that they will remain in the area after college and continue to be contributing members of their community.

“This program is very special to the university,” says Dr. Gitanjali Kaul, Vice President for Strategic Planning and Information Technology. It is a mutual investment and we know we can make a difference.” Both organizations are also determined to make a positive difference in their city and their region and provide students with value added programs that enhance their scholarships and provide a caring, personal touch.

“We are very grateful to Dr. Saunders and FAU for her leadership and generosity in establishing this relationship. I feel that this affiliation will be much more than just a scholarship program, it will have a positive and profound effect on our community going forward as we see more and more talented young people obtaining a quality education locally then staying locally to begin their working careers and raise their families.” states Tim Snow
