Taking time out from rehearsals for the upcoming 12th annual Boca’s Ballroom Battle, Diana Riser got things rolling with Casino Royale, a kick-off event at Madisons in Boca Raton to raise money for the George Snow Scholarship Fund.
Supporters used their gaming chips at the blackjack and roulette tables while enjoying drinks and appetizers.
The top three players won donated prizes that included a one-night stay at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, dinner for two at Daniel Boulud’s Boulud Sud restaurant and two select Brightline tickets; a two-night stay at the Delray Sands Resort in Highland Beach; dinner for two and a bottle of wine at Madisons New York Grill and Bar; and a headshot photo session by Brett Hufziger Photography.
In addition to Riser, president of the Boca Raton-based Pace Advertising, seven other dancers from philanthropists to business leaders will compete with their professional dance partners in the Boca’s Ballroom Battle on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in effort to raise money for the scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance and support services to students pursuing higher education.
The other dancers are Margaret L. Blume, Jason Hagensick, Tim Quinn, Fran Nachlas, Jody M. Saffert, Dr. Minelle M. Tendler and Eddie Ventrice. The winner will take home the mirror ball trophy.
“These students fight challenging circumstances we can’t even fathom, and yet they have the courage and determination to dream beyond and excel academically,” Riser said in a statement. “When you match that drive with the resources that the George Snow Scholarship Fund provides, the result has a huge impact on the students and our community. I agreed to participate this year because I could not turn down an opportunity to contribute to helping these amazing kids.”
